Creating a Timeless Legacy of Compassion, Service and Triumph
The Realities For Children Triumph Awards recognize and honor exceptional youth in our community who not only survived the adversities of childhood abuse but have also triumphed over them personally, socially and academically.
With your help we will build a $500,000 Triumph Awards Scholarship Endowment. When you donate to this endowment your gift will continue to give and your investment will serve forever. The returns on this endowed principal are distributed to Triumph Award winners in the form of collegiate scholarships. On the $500,000 endowment we are creating we can conservatively provide $50,000 in collegiate grants every two years. Your donation to this fund is one that truly creates a timeless legacy of compassion, service and triumph.
All of the youth are nominated by local agencies that work with abused and neglected children in Larimer County. Only youth who have triumphed over their childhood abuse and adverse life circumstances are eligible to be nominated. As they turn 18 and graduate from high school, they will be emancipated and many will be on their own. Ongoing support is critical to help them continue progressing and achieve the goals that they have set for themselves. The Acknowledgement, Educational Opportunities and Post-emancipation Support that the Triumph Awards offer help to empower these youth to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.
Cornerstone donors to this fund have issued a $100,000 matching grant challenge to the community. Which means the gift you donate today will not only serve abused youth for years to come but will be matched dollar for dollar!
Former Larimer County District Attorney Stu VanMeveren states “If you want to change a life, The Triumph Awards is the place to invest. These kids need all of our help.” We are asking you to help change a life and make a contribution today to the Realities For Children Triumph Awards Scholarship Fund.
Triumph Awards Bracelets
Blue is the international color for Child Abuse Prevention. It was chosen to represent the bruised and battered bodies of the thousands of children who are abused every day.
Before today is over, 3 children will die from being abused. At least one of them will be a baby--less than a year old. The other two probably haven't yet celebrated their fifth birthdays. In total, over 2,700 children will be physically and sexually abused today.
Tomorrow it starts all over again.
Child abuse is an American epidemic and Colorado is the third worst state in the nation for child abuse deaths. Studies show that children who grow up in abusive homes are more likely to abuse their own children. And those removed from their abusers and raised in the system are emancipated at age 18 to face the world on their own with little if any positive support--far too often falling back into abusive situations and perpetuating the cycle of violence.
If we intend to break this cycle of abuse we must help empower victims to become victors and come together as a community to provide acknowledgement, opportunity and support to those who have triumphed over their childhood abuse.
The Realities For Children Triumph Awards help to not only change the lives of children who have suffered abuse, but also help to assure that other children may never have to.
Be a part of creating a timeless legacy of compassion, service and Triumph. Donate to the Triumph Awards Endowment and awaken those around you by wearing the Triumph Bracelet, because no child should be forgotten.

Realities For Children Keeps Dreams ‘Alive’
Fort Collins, CO: Realities For Children will grant the wishes of four local at-risk youth through the inaugural Keeping Dreams Alive program on April 19th at the Fort Collins Hilton hotel, 425 West Prospect Avenue at the 11th Annual Realities For Children Member Appreciation Dinner.
In April, National Child Abuse Awareness Month, we will be granting the wishes of a child in four designated age categories. Children, between the ages of five and eighteen, who have current, open cases with the Larimer County Department of Human Services, have the opportunity to be nominated by their caseworker or Realities For Children’s Affiliate Agencies. This program is designed to encourage children, in the social services system, to follow their dreams and inspire them to make their dreams a reality.
Over five hundred people will be present at the Realities For Children Member Appreciation Dinner Keeping Dreams Alive ceremony, including attendance by over one hundred and twenty business members, local law enforcement, child protection caseworkers and affiliate youth agencies.
“We believe that if a child loses their dreams, they lose much more than the joy of pursuing them, they lose hope and the excitement of living that being a child is all about. We want to encourage children to not only dream, but to dream big and never abandon their destiny. Children, in placement, may need their dreams more than anyone, and if we are to see children triumph, they must first dream that they can.” –Realities For Children, President Craig Secher
